Caring for Cloth Diapers
It’s not difficult- it’s mostly common sense!
- If you are using cotton or hemp which contain natural oils, you will need to wash them about 3 times to help them reach their full absorbency.–No need to do 3 diaper loads, simply toss them in with towels or sheets till they’re ready to use.
- When it’s time to change baby, remove the insert and toss into a plastic lined diaper pail or a wet bag.
- If using a biodegradable liner, simply roll it up and flush it first.
- On laundry day dump the diapers and any diaper covers into the washer, and do a quick rinse and then a hot or warm water wash.
- Use only ¼ of the recommended amount of soap.
- Be sure to rinse thoroughly to avoid residue build up.
- Dryer or line dry– sunlight helps to disinfect.
- Diaper rash creams leave a greasy coating on the diapers making them repel. Be sure to use a liner to keep your diapers functioning properly.
